Javier Ganame, Canada

Dr Ganame is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. His clinical and research focus are in cardiac imaging, advanced echocardiography and cardiovascular MR imaging and adult congenital heart disease. He is the Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease program at McMaster University. He is the Director of the Medical Foundation 1 Unit at McMaster's School of Medicine.

He attended medical school and completed cardiology training in Cordoba, Argentina. He then did a fellowship in echocardiography at the University Hospitals Leuven in Belgium. He completed a PhD in medical sciences focusing on the use of novel echocardiographic methods to detect early ventricular dysfunction in pediatric heart disease at the University of Leuven, Belgium. At the same time he did three years of training in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. He then became a staff cardiologist and assistant professor at the University Hospitals Leuven and University of Leuven, Belgium before moving to Hamilton in 2010.
