Dr. Anita Chan is a Nuclear Cardiologist at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute/ University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  She has been the Medical Director of the Exercise and Nuclear Laboratories since 2021.  She completed the combined MD/PhD program at the University of Alberta, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Adult Cardiology at the University of Toronto.  Her subspecialty fellowship training in Nuclear Cardiology and Stress Echocardiography was also completed at the University of Toronto.  She is a Diplomate of the American Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and a Diplomate in Adult Transthoracic Plus Stress Echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography since 2018.  She is currently the Vice President of the Canadian Society of Cardiovascular Nuclear and CT Imaging (CNCT).

In addition to nuclear cardiology, her clinical practice includes general cardiology, cardiac amyloidosis, and cardiac sarcoidosis.  Dr. Chan is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Alberta and serves as the Nuclear Cardiology Rotation Lead for the Adult Cardiology Residency Training Program.  She received an Academic Presenter of the Year teaching award in 2022 from the Adult Cardiology Residency Program.
