Biography

Ms. Sooriyakanthan is a distinguished cardiac sonographer with a strong commitment to healthcare. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the Eastern University of Sri Lanka in 1999 and an Advanced Diploma in Cardiac Technology in 2006. In 2010, she completed a postgraduate diploma in cardiac ultrasound from the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine. With nearly a decade of experience, she worked at Epworth Hospital in Victoria, Australia, from 2008 to 2017.

After moving to Canada, she validated her credentials RDCS and CRCS with Sonography Canada and ARDMS certifications, starting her career at Abbotsford Regional Hospital before joining Toronto General Hospital in 2018. Sooriyakanthan's extensive academic and clinical background equips her with exceptional expertise in cardiac imaging. She possesses a unique ability to integrate imaging findings with their broader medical implications, showcasing her strong clinical acumen.

Her analytical skills further enable her to troubleshoot complex issues related to echocardiographic imaging, equipment functionality, and data analysis, leading to meaningful improvements in patient care. Additionally, she has made significant contributions to the field of research, with eleven published abstracts, five of which she presented as the primary presenter, along with eight publications where she has served as the first author on one. Ms. Sooriyakanthan's commitment to excellence in cardiac imaging continues to inspire her colleagues and enhance the quality of cardiac care in the communities she serves.
